It is often difficult to explain what you want your Tattoo to look like as a finished piece. Often knowing and therefore being able to tell your tattooist what style of tattoo you would like is a very helpful thing all round.
Listed below are a few of the main styles which Tattooist use and our customers ask for at Whiskey and ink.
Script is a favourite and can be decorative and meaningful
TRADITIONAL STYLE (Old School)
Traditional subjects , usually in colour with clear bold lines
Striking and between realism and Traditional ,The Neo Traditional style uses simplified lines and a much larger selection of colours than traditional
Tribal is the use of bold patterns which follow the line of the body to produce striking body art
GEOMETRIC (AND MANDALA PATTERNS)
Geometric and Mandala patterns which find their origins in Henna tattooing form often intricate and beautiful patterns across the body

BLACK AND GREY
Black and Grey work is very popular and is able to be used for most designs from portrait work to small pieces
Only Black ink used to create usually simplistic and often striking designs
Realism attempts to produce a tattoo which is so accurate to the subject it often looks like a photograph on the skin.
Illustrative style is accurate to the subject and portrays the feeling of a realistic image without being a perfect copy
Watercolour is a loose style with few if any outlines which often uses several shades of colour to mimic watercolour paintwork
